Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
PULSE — JEIB follows best practices aligned with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
Editors’ Responsibilities
- Decide fairly based on merit, relevance, and legal requirements.
- Ensure blind review, confidentiality, and timely processing.
- Act on misconduct (corrections/retractions) and manage conflicts of interest.
Authors’ Responsibilities
- Submit original work with accurate data, proper citation, and permissions.
- Provide ethics approval for human/animal studies; protect privacy and obtain informed consent.
- Disclose funding and conflicts of interest.
- Make data/code/model available or provide justified restrictions (see Open Science policy).
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality; declare COI; provide objective, evidence-based reviews.
- Report overlapping, plagiarized, or ethically problematic content.
Publisher/Journal
- Safeguard scholarly record; publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when needed.
- Preserve content via backups and indexing services.
Handling Misconduct
Allegations (plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, citation manipulation) are handled per COPE flowcharts. Sanctions may include rejection, article withdrawal, or retraction.
Use of AI Tools
- AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Their use must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript (methods/acknowledgments).
- Authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, and permissions of any AI-generated content.
